Secondary packaging for a bold, eccentric liquor brand: a twisting exoskeleton structure that replaces the standard cardboard box and turns unboxing into a reveal.
Bonga Bonga's bottle already had a bold, eccentric character. The brief was to design secondary packaging that extends that story instead of hiding it inside a plain cardboard box, and to eliminate the standard box altogether.
Early paper prototypes tested a twisting exoskeleton, a structure built from crossing struts rather than a lid, that cradles the bottle without fully enclosing it.
Twisting the package straightens its crossed struts and releases the bottle, turning the act of opening it into a small reveal rather than a lid coming off.
The graphic language pushed the same eccentric energy onto the surface: cartoon eyes, hand-drawn type and a starry night palette carried across every colour variant.
Too much light out here. My eyes hurt a little.
